The History of Photography is a privately owned collection of original 19th and 20th century photographs, and related artifacts, that traces the technical and artistic development of photography from its origins in England and France in the early 19th century up through worldwide use in the mid-20th century. We have tried to identify important milestones in this fascinating history and then acquire original images, literature and equipment which illustrate these events. SPECIAL FEATURE: THE LINKED RING
Founded May, 1892, by Henry Peach Robinson, The Linked Ring (also known as “The Brotherhood of the Linked Ring”) was an association of late 19th and early 20th century British photographers who pledged to promote pictorialism in particular and photography as a fine art in general.

Famous members of the Brotherhood, which was by invitation only, included Frank Sutcliffe, Frederick H. Evans, Paul Martin, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Frederick Hollyer, and, later, Americans Alfred Stieglitz and Clarence H. White
